Canoes By The Lake Front

Love the water? Want to paddle? 
Join us to see the fall colors from the water along Woods Creek on Grand Island and Ellicott Creek in Tonawanda / Amherst.  These paddles are easy to moderate level paddles and will be approximately 3 hours each.  Bring a camera to capture the fall colors or just come out and enjoy.  Each paddle is led by an ACA-certified instructor and will start with a brief introduction to paddle strokes and paddling safety.  

Easy-Moderate Level Paddle: Woods Creek/East River (Buckhorn State Park)
DatesSaturday, October 2; Saturday, October 9 
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Location:  Woods Creek Kayak Launch in Buckhorn State Park – we will paddle Woods Creek up to Baseline Road, turn around and head out to East River (weather permitting).  View the fall colors, ducks, turtles and other birds in the area.  Heron, Egret and Osprey have been seen in the area.  The Woods Creek portion has minimal current and is fairly protected from wind; East River has a moderate current and waves depending on wind speed and direction.  This paddle will be 3-4 miles
Ages:  13 and over - limited to 6 participants
What to Bring:  Gear participants should bring include: camera, water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat etc.  Be prepared for the weather and dress in layers that can easily be taken off or put on.  Kayak, paddle and lifejacket are provided.  Note, clothing and footwear may get wet from paddle drip and splashing.
Weather: The paddle will go light rain or shine.  If there is heavy rain or thunderstorms the paddle will be canceled a refund will be given.  Refunds will not be given for cancellations by the participant

Easy Level Paddle: Ellicott Creek Park, Tonawanda
Dates:  Saturday, October 16; Saturday, October 23
Time:  8:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Location:  
Ellicott Creek Park Kayak Launch, Tonawanda – we will paddle East along the creek toward Sweet Home Road and back.  View the fall colors, ducks, turtles, and other birds in the area.  The creek has minimal current and is fairly protected from the wind.    This paddle will be 3-4 miles.
