Adaptive Cooking & Baking Program! Come eat and learn some kitchen safety, vocabulary, food Prep skills, and tasty recipes! For ages 8 to 21 years old who require adaptive functioning. Why Cooking?It's not just about the food!Learning to prepare simple meals can improve independence and nutrition. Cooking & baking skills are valuable for our youth. My Special Chef and Baking Buddies are for beginners who would like to learn new recipes. Individuals must be able to work in a group setting with a maximum of 5 people and be able to follow simple step directions. *This program is not suitable for individuals with food allergies or dysphagia. What to bring: comfortable attire/apron, indoor sneakers, hair tied back and a water bottle.

Nutrition and environmental exposures are so important during adolescence. “Get Focused” is a cerebral nutrition & cooking class that explores the gut-brain connection and how food choices can greatly affect our children’s brain function, focus, and mental clarity. Your instructor, a Certified Nutritionist, will share exciting research on how to help our kids and set them up for success during this period of rapid brain development. You will learn which foods can impair their focus and hinder their learning success while demonstrating delicious recipes you can easily prepare at home. Matches start approx. every hour.Officials’ fee: each team pays the official at each game: $20 cash only.       Team Information: Min. of 4 teams to play to Max 6 teams. Players must be 18 yrs. old or older, and out of High School. All team coaches & players must register online and be on the official roster. If Coach is a Player, coach must also register as a player to be on the team roster. Spectators and Minors are not allowed in the gym. School Facility: Games are subject to availability & facility rules: All people must enter through the main High School door. Photo ID might be required for security reasons; Monitor hours: 4pm to 10pm. All persons must be out of the school before 10pm **The team will not be allowed to play until payment is received. **All players must be on the roster to play.  ***The team will not be allowed to play without the proper number of players on the roster.

Dance Program: Monday Evenings: Tiny Tot Dancer: ages 3 to 6: (1/2 hr class) 530pm-6pmThis thirty-minute class will introduce boys and girls to music and dance while exploring movement and basic steps in a fun creative way. We use imagination games, up-beat age-appropriate music and props, like colorful scarves, hoola hoops, and maracas to inspire and excite students about dance. Your toddler will also improve their listening skills, along with their gross motor skills, coordination, muscle development and body awareness. Please prepare your child with comfortable clothes for movement.Body language exercises, Training techniques for dancers, Basic dance steps, Projection of dancer on stage, Choreographic games, Costume design, Dance performanceAbout the Independent Instructor: SHIRLEY BITTLINGMAIER, BA Dance and Theatre degree. A native of Sincelejo, Colombia, Shirley studied dance and theatre at the University of Antonio Nariño of Bogota Colombia and went to serve as the director for the Municipal Dance School of Sincelejo, she was artistic director for Grupo Cultural Latinos in Rochester, dance instructor of Borinquen Dance and theater and dance teacher at James Monroe High School in Rochester, in the same way she served the community in multiple Recreation Centers of the same city.4 Weeks (unless otherwise stated)Community Center 3278 Whitehaven Rd. Adult Basketball *Open Gym Games*Tuesday evenings: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. *No referees. Games are “pick-up” and managed / “officiated” by the participants. (No Games on holidays, and when the school is closed). Registration opens on August 1, 2024.Men's Session: November 12 to December 17, 2024 (6 weeks). Registration closes  at 3 pm on Nov.12Women's Session: January 7 to February 11, 2024 (6 weeks) Registration closes on Dec 29. Fee per session: $40 per resident, $55 per non-residentWhere: Grand Island Middle School Participants decide each week on teams & game styles such as 5v5 full court, 3v3 half court, a combination of other game types players want to play, etc. Each session is limited Min. of 6pp, to max. 20 participants. Participants must register online, pay in full, and be on the roster to enter the gym. Recreation Staff will have the roster to check in participants each week. Recreation Staff will open the gym and be on site. We will provide basketballs and upon request a scoreboard/time clock.

Dance Program: Monday Evenings: Tiny Tot Dancer: ages 3 to 6: (1/2 hr class) 530pm-6pmThis thirty-minute class will introduce boys and girls to music and dance while exploring movement and basic steps in a fun creative way. We use imagination games, up-beat age-appropriate music and props, like colorful scarves, hoola hoops, and maracas to inspire and excite students about dance. Your toddler will also improve their listening skills, along with their gross motor skills, coordination, muscle development and body awareness. Please prepare your child with comfortable clothes for movement.Body language exercises, Training techniques for dancers, Basic dance steps, Projection of dancer on stage, Choreographic games, Costume design, Dance performanceAbout the Independent Instructor: SHIRLEY BITTLINGMAIER, BA Dance and Theatre degree. A native of Sincelejo, Colombia, Shirley studied dance and theatre at the University of Antonio Nariño of Bogota Colombia and went to serve as the director for the Municipal Dance School of Sincelejo, she was artistic director for Grupo Cultural Latinos in Rochester, dance instructor of Borinquen Dance and theater and dance teacher at James Monroe High School in Rochester, in the same way she served the community in multiple Recreation Centers of the same city.4 Weeks (unless otherwise stated)Community Center 3278 Whitehaven Rd. (No Games on holidays, and when the school is closed). Registration opens on August 1, 2024.Men's Session: November 12 to December 17, 2024 (6 weeks). Registration closes  at 3 pm on Nov.12Women's Session: January 7 to February 11, 2024 (6 weeks) Registration closes on Dec 29. Fee per session: $40 per resident, $55 per non-residentWhere: Grand Island Middle School Participants decide each week on teams & game styles such as 5v5 full court, 3v3 half court, a combination of other game types players want to play, etc. Each session is limited Min. of 6pp, to max. 20 participants. Participants must register online, pay in full, and be on the roster to enter the gym. Recreation Staff will have the roster to check in participants each week. Recreation Staff will open the gym and be on site. We will provide basketballs and upon request a scoreboard/time clock.

Cooking & baking skills are valuable for our youth. My Special Chef and Baking Buddies are for beginners who would like to learn new recipes. Individuals must be able to work in a group setting with a maximum of 5 people and be able to follow simple step directions. *This program is not suitable for individuals with food allergies or dysphagia. What to bring: comfortable attire/apron, indoor sneakers, hair tied back and a water bottle.

Dance Program: Monday Evenings: Tiny Tot Dancer: ages 3 to 6: (1/2 hr class) 530pm-6pmThis thirty-minute class will introduce boys and girls to music and dance while exploring movement and basic steps in a fun creative way. We use imagination games, up-beat age-appropriate music and props, like colorful scarves, hoola hoops, and maracas to inspire and excite students about dance. Your toddler will also improve their listening skills, along with their gross motor skills, coordination, muscle development and body awareness. Men's Volleyball- Thursday Nights*Team Registration Fee $275 + $40 refundable Forfeit Fee = $315COACH registers team & payment opens August 1, 2024. Deadline is October 31, 2024.Registration fees must be PAID IN FULL by the deadline or the Team will not be scheduled. PLAYER (Free) registration opens September 5, 2024. Deadline November 5. *Extended to Sun. Nov. 24, 2024. Game: Nov 7, 2024, to Feb 14, 2025 (no games on holidays or when schools are closed).Time:  630pm, 730pm & 830pm @ Middle school. Games. Matches start approx. every hour.Officials’ fee: each team pays the official at each game: $20 cash only.       Team Information: Min. of 4 teams to play to Max 6 teams. Players must be 18 yrs. old or older, and out of High School. All team coaches & players must register online and be on the official roster. If Coach is a Player, coach must also register as a player to be on the team roster. Spectators and Minors are not allowed in the gym. School Facility: Games are subject to availability & facility rules: All people must enter through the main High School door. Photo ID might be required for security reasons; Monitor hours: 4pm to 10pm. All persons must be out of the school before 10pm **The team will not be allowed to play until payment is received. **All players must be on the roster to play.  ***The team will not be allowed to play without the proper number of players on the roster.

Join our fun themed art clubs in winter, spring, summer & fall!Siblings are also welcome to enroll. Instructors work with individuals of all skill levels to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces to take home and enjoy. Classes open for youth and young adults! Come get creative!
